Fresh fruit is nature's candy!

Yesterday, I went to the Farmer's Market in Baltimore City, underneath the JFX. I feel so blessed, because it is right next to The Living Well, where I teach yoga on Sunday mornings. The availability of fresh food is essential to the vibrancy of a community. When we eat fresh foods, we can think clearly and have lots of energy. Not to mention the fact that being healthy keeps us performing better at work and school. Merchants make money to support their families. Money stays local. People are connecting with one another. The impact of a local farmer's market is social, creative, and economic.


Peaches are now in season!!!


Five Facts About Peaches:

  1. A large peach has fewer than 70 calories and contains 3 grams of fiber. It’s also a good source of vitamins A and C.

  2. The fuzzy peach is a member of the rose family and originated in China.

  3. When looking for ripeness, choose a peach that is slightly soft to the touch and has an even coloring.

  4. The nutrients found in peaches make them beneficial for both skin and hair. Various cosmetic products have peaches as an ingredient.

  5. Instead of popping a pill to relieve stress, enjoy a juicy peach instead! The phytonutrients contained in peaches have a calming effect. They can help reduce anxiety. Hungarians refer to the peach as the “fruit of calmness.”
